At the conclusion of the festival an international jury will grant the Dance Piece of the Year and Dancer of the Year award.
Audiences vote on the winner of the Audience Award.
The jury of the Institute of Light Design grants the Award for Light Design.
Since 2016 the portfolio of awards has expanded to include an award for Manager of the Year / Awards of Jiří Opěla.
History of festival awards
The first edition of the festival was organized in 1994. Between 2002 until 2009 Tanec Praha civic assocation announced in a cooperation with SAZKA the SAZKA Prize for "discovery in dance". This prize was linked with the financial award for the realization of the new piece.
In 2011, Tanec Praha civic association together with Arts and Theatre Institute had put together a jury of leading Czech and foreign personalities working in the domain of contemporary dance. The jury awarded the prize the Dance Piece of the Year award. The main focus of this award is an expert reflection on local creation, which is vitally important for the development of individual artists and the entire field.
Since 2005 Tanec Praha announces The Dancer of the Year award.
Traditionally, also the Audience award is announced. The winner of the prize gets one half of festival ticket incomes at PONEC theatre.
The most recent of festival prizes was introduced in 2009 when the organizers of the CZECH DANCE PLATFORM together with the Institute of Light Design decided to award The Light Design Award. This prize resulted from the necessity to raise consciousness about recent trends on the scene of Czech scenic design.
